PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE

About the position: The Public Health Nurse will be responsible for the provision of nursing interventions which promote and preserve the health of communities, families and individuals across the lifespan; functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services; uses principles of community development to identify health issues, advocates for policy change; applies innovative health promotion strategies to facilitate healthy living in the community.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- BScN including preparation in public health nursing
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Experience in community-based service delivery
- Self-starter demonstrating initiative and with the ability to take appropriate action/direction
- Experience in giving injections intramuscularly, and subcutaneously, to individuals of all ages is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge and decision-making skills in health assessment, knowledge and understanding of the core functions and approaches of public health practice, strong project management skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team setting
- Ability to provide non-judgmental and inclusive service to all clients
- Masters level education is considered an asset
- A valid Ontario driver’s license, with valid insurance and reliable vehicle access
- Valid immunization status, in accordance with organizational requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly wage range: $48.09-55.88/hour, 70 hours in a two-week period.
- Benefits: OMERS pension and a comprehensive Health and Dental benefits package.
Terms of Employment:
Employment conditions in accordance with the ONA Brantford Nurses’ Collective Agreement.
